Receptionist Memorable Moment
Congratulations to Pippa Lainsbury who shared her wonderful Reception moment with us. Pippa wrote:
'I’ve worked on Reception on and off for most of my working life, but my role at this Care Home is by far the best yet. It’s like being part of a very large and loving family, with much laughter and tears between colleagues, relatives and residents.
I was fortunate enough to be able to share the occasion we won our company’s “Making a Difference Challenge”. Each year we organise a series of activities that make a difference to our resident’s lives – last year we had Traditional Afternoon Teas with entertainment. This brought back many happy memories of formal teas with grandparents, walking out with their eventual husbands and wives and enjoying afternoon tea just like it was at the Ritz. As part of us winning we had Ainsley Harriot visit and present our prize – it was lovely seeing all the staff, relatives and residents being a part of such a special occasion. I ended up talking to him about his experiences on Strictly Come Dancing and I was whisked off to “jive” with him to our live musicians, literally being swept off my feet! This ended with rapturous applause, us both taking a well-deserved bow, and then I had to sit down in a quiet darkened room!
It is such a privilege to meet and greet people, offer a smiling welcome and be an attentive, polite person who is willing to help, listen, offer sympathy and to be the calm front line when the normal daily chaos ensues'.
